Artist Statment

The modern aesthetics of fantasy future, and the ageless characteristics of the sea are married together in my work, through a Post-modern genre of Magic Realism called “Vaporwave.” What I was taught about art was taught to me freely, and undeservedly. There is an imperative in me to pay forward what I was given, as it was given to me. My personal work serves to self-examine and process difficult periods in my life, with the goal of becoming a better person.

The illustrations I create are the medium through which I talk about my life and learn from those experiences. To teach and nurture others I must know myself. I must be whole before I can help others be whole as well. To be sure I’m doing what I’m doing for the right reasons, and more importantly, so that I may be up to the task of eventually teaching others
